About me
Currently, I am an English as a Second Language teacher in South Carolina and currently working on my master’s in international politics and military affairs from The Citadel. This website is a labor of love and a dream for me. My goal is to scratch my own itch for exploring subjects I post about. In some ways I want to invoke the pre-social media internet and focus on what interests me as opposed to getting visitors. Therefore, I will not be engaging in click bait posts or trolling for views.
I have always been interested in Great Powers and the system behind their ranking and importance to the world. I was first exposed to the subject when I plucked Paul Kennedy’s The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers off my father’s bookshelf. I read it in sixth grade and was fascinated by the mix of history, economics, and politics Kennedy introduced. Most importantly though, I loved his use of statistics and data. Data does not lie, only the person using it can by seeing the data is made up, shown out of context, deliberately shown incomplete, etc. I will be as open as possible in my work.
